Apparently Gitzo has increased their prices and right in the middle of a rebase period. Very strange behavior.

The GT1542T Traveler tripod was priced at $489 last week and you could get a $40 rebate on it for the tripod alone. Now the price is $589 with the same rebate.

According to B&H the change is due to a price increase from the manufacturer. A 20% price increase is huge (IMO). B&H did have it at a much lower price than some of their competitors so maybe they just can't get as good a deal as they used to.

I bought my 1542t on October 14, 2001 for $610 - that was the going rate on both BH and Amazon at the time of purchase.

(i returned it for a Benro and am glad i did, FWIW)

Found you can get a deal at Hunts Photo this weekend. If you turn in any kind of tripod for a Gitzo you get $150 off. During the sale they will start at $611 and reduce it to $461. I wonder if yo can use the Gitzo rebate of $40 after that?

Gitzo GT1542T 6X Traveler 4S G-Lock Carbon Fiber Tripod is listed @ $679.99 at Hunt's Photo&Video(http://www.huntsphotoandvideo.com …oductid=GT1542T&mfg=Gitzo (external link)) right now(The evening of May 11th, 2012), and I can't find any mention of TRADE IN(for $150 or any amount) NOWHERE. Can you specify where and how to find the $150 TRADE-IN is?

Hunts had a flyer that came in our local paper since they have a store in Portland, ME. Stopped by yesterday to confirm. Plan to go by this morning and see if the are honoring it. I saw the price differences on the web as well so I am wondering if he misquoted me. Will know soon.

Please let us know if they would ship to CA or any other parts of US for the same price.

Just got back from Hunt's an I was able get a GT1542T for $611 - $150 = $461 not counting State of ME sales tax. Can't fault Hunt's for that. Also it looks like I can still qualify for the $40 Gitzo rebate but I'll see. You do have to trade any tripod to get the $150 off. I traded in an old cheap aluminum Slik. If you trade a tripod and a head it's $200 off! Stete of ME laws claim you have to pay the sales tax even if its an Internet sale;)
