Surely the purveyors of horse feed and equine veterinary services, in Northern Illinois alone, could produce a list that would put the freelancers to shame.

I don't get the point. There are risks when you provide products and services on credit. Potentially, there are opportunities too. Running a business requires understanding and quantifying the risks and potential rewards.

I bet the default rate on credit cards would put that to shame ;)

Sorry, I don't see this as
Terrifying * Shocking * True * A Spectacle that Defies Explanation!

That headline says it all really, this is sensationalist twaddle.

Freelancers working on account occasionally don't get paid, that's life and you build it into your prices as a "cost" of doing business. That is not terrifying or shocking and it certainly doesn't "defy explanation", it is easily explained - sometimes you don't get paid. Businesses go out of business leaving debts behind them and unpaid accounts, others are short of money and put off paying, some of those on the list are simply victims of scammers.

This isn't an invoice, simply a list of people who are owed money. That is never going to be a short list, especially when yopu include such a variety of freelancers (very few of them seem to be anything to do with photography) and include items where somebody has paid big money for goods which never turn up.

Gee, there are nasty people in the world, who don't pay their debts or scam people into buying non-existent goods. Are we supposed to be surprised at this revelation ? Or shocked that a list can be made that tops $15m, spread over a very large number of people.

Cameraman on network reality show by prod. company in prime real estate offices. Ponzi schemed the director & crew out of tens of thousands. $2,700

Huh?

built $250k production studio for client, without contract. $50,000

The same person posted two more losses. Would think they'd have learned their lesson the first time they got burned.

Tutoring in German $225.00

Isn't this the type of thing you get paid for upfront? I doubt a single session costs $225.
