this is the blend of 2 exposures, 4 stops apart. I did darken the brighter exposure by one stop so they are 3 stops apart. I blended them with simple masking and using a brush of opacity between 10 and 100%.
Taken with the Nikon 14-24 on Canon 5d2

Your exposure blend worked out very well. How do you like the 14-24mm on the 5D II? thanks. the 14-24 has great sharpness and micro contrast. it is flare prone, and does not take filters. however, as I do more exposure blending, filters are less of an issue, an CP's are not generally useful in 14-24 range for the sky, though good for decreasing glare/reflection off of vegetation. I dont find the manual focus/aperture as a negative. My Flickr

I dont find the manual focus/aperture as a negative. One of my negatives about it was CA. it did not have a lot, but there was no ACR profile for fixing it vs my canon lenses. the new LR4 remove CA works amazingly well. so that negative is gone now. I also own the 16-35 II. there is not a huge difference between them at f11. the Nikon still has the edge in the corners, and slightly better microcontrast, as long as there is no flare. I have to admit, having that lens has pulled me a little to the dark side with the d800. just having that degree of resolution and dynamic range is so inviting. When the D800 was announced I got caught up in the hype about the dynamic range...now that I have been shooting my D800 I'm even more impressed. I'm truly awestruck by it, so it's more than lived up to the hype for me. I'm confident you'd absolutely love it for landscapes. 36MP is wonderful, love that, but it's the DR that thrills and awes me the most. The only stinker with the D800 is the LV; it's just not as good as my 5D II. David | Flickr
