What is the worst/most regretful purchased lens, for whatever reason, that you purchased and why? The reasons can be anything like, too much money, bad image quality, didn't find a use for it, etc...

I will start with my Sigma 50mm 1.4. I had the Canon 50mm 1.8 and loved the focal length but instead of waiting to buy the 50L, I bought the sigma instead. I ended having to send it to Sigma twice to finally get the focus right and then ended up selling it to get the 50L. FYI, the Sigma was great after the focusing issues were resolved, I just couldn't stay away from that magical red ring.

I had a 35mm f2 that had great IQ and spot-on AF, but I rarely used it. I can't put my finger on a reason, it just never got used. I traded it plus some cash for, of all things, a Rokinon 35mm f1.4. Same FL, but it renders entirely different. I find myself using that lens a lot. Go figure.

Worst lens... Nope, I can't think of one! Each one is perfect and makes me a happy owner in its own way.

While others have had excellent results with it, my pick as my worst photo lens will easily go to the Sigma 30mm f/1.4. Absolutely abysmal AF.

Sigma 24mm that front focuses (use manual focus and it is fine)... Oddly i still use this the most, next to my old nikon non ais "thrifty fifty"

peleng 8mm.. Flare issues (what do you expect) significantly worse then Rokinon. Lens cap never fit right.

Don't have any bad lenses. They're all Canon and they're all better at what they do than I am at what I do. But I'm working on it.

It has to be the Nifty Fifty. Don't get me wrong, it's sharper than anything else I have. But its focusing speed is horrible! And that focusing ring at the front. Terrible.

It's also not wide enough on a crop...

Great lens otherwise!

I had a Sigma 70-300 years ago and I struggled to get it to focus on anything moving faster than a tortoise. On top of that, unless it was at f11, it was more blurred than my vision after a heavy night at the pub. Not nice...

EF 28-200 was the worst lens I ever owned...

I suppose the "least good" lens I have now is the 50mm f/1.4

Years ago I bought a used Canon 20-35mm 3.5-4.5. Worst image quality I've ever seen. The center quality was bad, and the picture on the edges almost disappeared. I didn't get a bad copy, I got the worst copy! I quickly returned the lens for a refund.
