Mine is the 50L wide open at f/1.2

The only L to be the "worst"?

I had a tamron 28-75 that made pictures look like someone had smeared vaseline on BOTH the front and rear elements. Looked absolutely awful until stopped down to f5.6, but I have a feeling it was a damaged lens.

This one hurts! I love my 50L. The only other lens that I liked more was the 85L which I owned for a VERY brief time.

someone told here about 18-55 canon kit. lo-o-ng ago I was shooting with it - 7 out of frames are out of focus. Changed there on 18-250 - all frames were sharp. Didn`t use 18-55 any more

So far, 17-40L. Two absurdly decentered copies (on a crop body!) and counting (it's turning into the 15-85 farce all over again). At over £600 this is not on. Hope the third is built correctly or it's get-refund-and-buy-something-else time. Anyone have any recommendations? My number one requirement now is reliability, fed up with playing the exchange/service game.

Tamron 17-50 because of inconsistant focusing at a distance. Close ups are 100% accurate but as the subject gets further away, the keeper rate goes down the tube. I thought the lens was sharp enough but since getting the 70-200 f4 L IS, its made me realise that the tamron is actually a soft lens

Of the lenses I own, the Canon 50mm f/1.4 is clearly the worst. It is way soft wide open, compared to all other lenses I have. I frequently hesitate to use it at all.

Good luck selling it now that you announced it sucks! :)

I really, really liked the 50mm f1.4. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat (but not yours)

15 votes against the 50mm f 1.4 on this thread alone, and you'd buy another one. Hmmm...

Well, that time came and went and I am now slightly better-off again. Copy number three was badly soft at 17mm down the left and right quarters of the image (slightly worse on left), and this is on APS-C. Had pretty wild, trumpet-shaped field-curvature: to the sides the in-focus region bent right in to under my feet. Well done, Canon(!) :eyes

My adapted Meyer Optiks 100mm f2.8 Trioplan. Not sharp at all but has the most interesting bokeh ever.

I have a Sigma 24-70 EX that is rubbish...mostly because the focus gearing has failed....

I had the same thing happen on my 70 to 200L lens..
