You claim to have done photography for a number of years as a student and passed and graduated from a film school. Surely you would know the answer is the photographer? That was just reaction to Tom Reichner. As stated above by MJ, you do not need justification for what you do. It is not the equipment, contrary to what some people think, but the person behind it. Buy what you want. Nope, wasn't insured... I went to the cops and they said there is nothing they can do about it (to busy giving out parking tickets I guess). To be honest, I also think a lot about this. Let me first tell you that I'm a "Canon Lover". I've had 3 Canon printers (i560, MP450 and MF8030Cn) and a compact (Powershot A40) before buying myself an EOS 550D. I bought the 550D because of the good review on dpreview and it felt nice when I held it in my hands. So far I have following equipment for my EOS 550D: EF-S 18-55mm F/3.5-5.6 IS, EF 50mm F/1.8 II, EF 70-200mm F/4L IS USM (no other brand has an alternative for this magnificent lens), Speedlite 580EX II and RS-60E3. 550D | EF-S 18-55mm F/3.5-5.6 IS | EF 50mm F/1.8 II | EF 70-200mm F/4L IS | Speedlite 580EX II | LumoPro LP180 | Gitzo GT3541XLS | Arca-Swiss Monoball Z1 SP | ONA Bowery (black, non-leather)

I have no experience with the D7000, so I won't speak to it. I have seen good high ISO shots out of it, but also have seen poor shots out of it. Past Equipment | My Personal Gallery

Mate of mine bought a D5100, and I found it to be a frustrating camera to use, in comparison to my 550D. Quite a few things have to be accessed through menus rather than directly with a button, and it doesn't seem to be very intuitive. To me anyway. Go try one, (a Nikon) and see if you like it. In real life, you won't see a scrap of difference in image quality. It's all down to ergonomics and usability. Whatever fits, buy.

I'm a young (24) photographer from Belgium. Did photography for couple of years, also graduated from a film/TV school, so I guess that helps also. Unfortunately, my whole Canon setup got stolen about a year ago (approx 3000 euro worth of equipment) Man do I miss photography, but I just couldn't afford new gear.Anyway, life goes on, no point in dwelling in the past, so I was thinking about getting a new camera and stuff. I have hard time figuring what camera to buy! It's basically D7000 vs 7D for me (because 7D is kinda old, you can buy it for the same price on ebay). I must say that 7D just feels like a better camera, a real beast, I also like Canon lenses more. D7000 wins in image quality on higher ISO though. I also like that you can mount pretty much any lens on EOS with an adapter, while you can't do it on Nikon. Yet, Nikon shooters some how make better pictures! Somehow... I'm very temped by this Nikon fan club of elitists, it's kinda irrational, I don't like that...What would you do if your kit would have been stolen? What would be a good reason to go over to Nikon? Or stay with Canon? I specifically asked this question on Canon forum, because I don't want to start yet an other useless Canon vs Nikon post. (I'll do the same on Nikon forum)
You may say I'm a Zoomer, But I'm not the only one
