Saw this Beauty wading in the river at our local woods. Unfortunately it didn't stick around for a second shot.

good question, I got slightly nervous and missed up the shot but by the time I I tried to focus on the head the heron flew away.

Usually we tell people to get closer. But sometimes it's necessary to back up. ;-)a. But you have the focus and exposure nailed so that's a good part of the battle. Keep trying.

Well Abuha, there's excellent feather detail. You held that 400mm pretty steady at 1/250th too. Well done there.

Thanks for the encouragaing words guys even though the image screams of failure :oops:

I wouldn't say it's a failure....look at it like a lesson learned. Not many people can get this close to a Heron. ;)
