Not willing to pay for it, so we let it slide. Apparently lead forwarding used to be free, and then it was changed.

I've used them and gotten some clients from them.....at least until I had a bad experience. They had a refund policy in place that said if you pay for a lead and the potential client does not contact you within a week, you are entitled to a full refund. Well, I purchased several leads with no return contact so I submitted my request for a refund....I got no refund nor response. After that, I quit buying leads. At least I'm only out about 15 bucks or so but it's the principal of the matter that really turned me off to their service. Had they never offered the refund policy, I would probably still be buying leads because I was actually coming out ahead in the deal.

I'm not familiar with them, but I've sampled some others with a similar model a few years ago and thought little of it. Aside from the fact that I never even spoke to anyone let alone land a client through them, it almost seems scammy. I'd get inquiries from time to time and never paid. They came to me with one right in my small town so I bit. Never heard from the prospect but I was swarmed with inquries like never before. So I said never again and that was the end of it.

I pay $11 per month for unlimited leads. I just started with them but it seems very cost effective. I got one of the four jobs I bid on and made $300 on the beach photo session.

I had 0 luck. I submitted too at least 25 leads. I thought their rate was about $38 for unlimited? or $4.99 for each lead.

Just signed up for free.
Most of the leads I see are for 1K or less weddings.

^ I think it is a step BELOW cragislist and you have to pay for leads .You sign up for free but that is all you get for free. Totally a waste of time.

Yeah, I too have had similar issues like JRA. I payed for a lead, I think $8, and never heard back from the client, so I tried to get a refund and never heard back from thumbtack either. Also, I've noticed since I'm on the free version that each lead cost increases, it started out free, then was a few dollars then $8, now I think its up to $12 or so. But most weddings have been the entire farm for under $1k. So I don't even bother.

On the other hand, it could be better than advertising with the Knot or Wedding Wire. I'm currently trying to decide where/if to advertise but WW is $4k a year for premium placement. I figure that most brides probably only skim the first few pages, like Google, so going with anything other than their top placement would be a potential waste of money. But I don't have $4k to spend on advertising yet...

I have been using Thumbtack the last week. I don't think its a scam as I have talked with real people several times now. The problem is I feel thumbtack makes it very easy for just anyone who is even remotely thinking of hiring a professional to just plug in the info and hit submit. I get the feeling that I am paying good money just so someone can find out how much it will cost them to hire someone else.

I have limited my responses to those with some girth to them. More info provided in the listing, more details of what they want, more than just a few clicks that someone plugs in while just window shopping. I have also found that by only quoting those leads that have that info, and a phone number to call, increased my success rate right away. Not until I started doing that did I start talking to real people.

Is it worth it? I am still evaluating it.

Sorry again for bringing up an old post. I know someone will comment on that. But then if I started a new post, someone would comment on how I did not search the old threads... so no win for the roaming bull on this one ;)

Why don't you take a picture, it will last longer....
