Nice Jeff, but I almost expect it to be floating! :) lol

Thanks for the tip Jon, I found coordinates for the moon at www.timeanddate.com (external link) then plotted that through Google Earth. I've taken a shot with my Sony Cybershot from the 3/4 mile spot at 250mm and used that to plot the distance for the 2032mm focal length so that the Expo Center will be composed in a recognisable way. It's my plan to get the full moon at about 2/3 over the geodesic dome. Will try out the site you named and see if I can get a confirmation on my site coordinates. Thanks again for that tip! If I can get the exact site nailed down I'll be able to get a shot of the dome while it's still comparitively light out then another as the moon hit's proper position to merge them together.

No issues Dale, the more tools we all share the better off everyone is. The Photographers Ephemeris is a free program which is downloaded and installed, not a web site. It won't take into account building heights, but you could make guesses on them and factor that in. If you learn how to use it correctly, it will give you very precise information regarding times and angles. Best of luck!

Would you believe that your program has me right on target from my calculations? :) I'll go out tomorrow and shoot it in daylight to ensure line-of-sight, plan on putting the rack back on my pickup and setting up a platform so the camera will be about 11feet off the ground, that should give me no obstructions. It's pretty cool getting all the exact details of a shot lined up well before hand, now if it just doesn't rain.....

Thanks!

I guess the lead in the crystal weighed it down!

Here's one last one for tonight. Not floating either and not crystal...just plain old glass.

Really cool Jeff, but almost looks floating.

Dale, I'm glad it's confirmed your previous findings. One thing to note is that depending on how accurate you are at calculating the relative elevations you may be off a bit on the angles. If you noticed, as you change the times by 10 minutes how much the ange of the moon changes. So, if you're looking for a precise location over the Expo Center it's best if you can set some wiggle room in your location so that you can move side to side and adjust the angle.

Where ever you're going to shoot if you can set your truck to give you the ability to move it side to side in case the

Cool. Back in action here...hehe. Nice pics, all. Astro photography is way cool...but, I'm sure it gets pretty expensive...huh?

Well, here's to all the mom's out there...Happy Mothers Day. It's the first rose from our garden...and I took it hand-held, so, sorry if it's not completely sharp. :)

Peugeot 306 Special Edition with an outside combustion engine and the two people on the roof are probably the main thing holding it together...

Great shot btw. :)
