Something I've noticed when doing my editing and polishing of shots, more often than not I boost exposure by up to 1/3 stop. So much so I'm considering setting the camera to +1/3. Any thoughts?
According to the principles HAMSTTR/ETTR that's the way to do it. Theoretically if you are looking to maximize image quality, you will get your best results by slightly overexposing and pulling back in post, due to how the sensor works. I haven't done scientific tests myself, but I've tried it and never seen any ill effects from it, provided that the RAW file itself is not actually blown out.
It's certainly true that if you underexpose and push it up in post, you will see more noise in the shadows. So all else being equal I'd rather my images be a bit on the bright side rather than the dark side.
