Peugeot 306 Special Edition with an outside combustion engine and the two people on the roof are probably the main thing holding it together...

Great shot btw. :)

The hood ornaments were an optional extra I believe... :D

Finally got a nice weekend of weather and got up to the hill again:

Hiding in plain sight.

My sticky start with the 1Ds MkII continues to be sticky. There was an issue with fast shutterspeeds and the shutter was replaced. There's still a problem, only it switched sides from right bottom corner to the left.

So back it went to be fixed further. Hopefully I don't have to wait two weeks this time...

It's an eurasian coot (external link) and you can also see its beak (bone white area) which goes up to its forehead.

Funny looking birds and if it wouldn't have made a calling sound I probably would have missed it :)

Good luck Janne, hope it gets back to you quickly and is in tip top shape. Loving mine, hard to use the 5D2 anymore as it just doesn't feel right.

Ahh, funny lookin bird isn't it? Sort of an ugly cousin to a pigeon?

Of course pigeons don't swim (hopefully) :D

There's also a wagtail in the background getting its feet wet...

Thanks for the support, I hope to get the camera in working order and back in my hands as soon as possible. I'm loving the IQ and also the quality of the camera over my 7D.

Dust seems to be a problem though, what are you guys using to clean the sensor? I have rocket blower, but it seems it's about time to invest in an arctic butterfly and some wet cleaning supplies as well.

I've been using Eclipse with PecPads for years now. The old 5D Classic demanded attention, lol. I have a rocket blower that I've really never had any success with, as it doesn't seem to be dust but rather the black liner to cut reflections with a touch of oil to make it stick to everything. So it would seem that wet cleaning is an exercise in pushing around the spots until you get it acceptable. Even had the folks with Eclipse ask me to dry swab it to remove the stubborn spots (carefully, very carefully!) I only do that when absolutely necessary. Don't use small enough aperture's often enough for the spots to be much of a problem, so don't clean all that often.

And no, not so much like a pigeon after all. ;)

Just sent a payment for a mint condition copy with brandnew shutter... joining the club soon.
I still own my 1Ds classic... they say that old thing produces wonderful colors. Can't wait to do a shootout between the two and see how the mark II compares...

@ Dale,

Thanks for the info, but could you specify that are you using Eclipse fluid and Sensor Swabs? Aren't Pec Pads those cleaning sheets?

@ Patrick,

Great rose photos, the first one especially has great colors.

@cvt01,

Welcome to the club!

A bit less color here, but here's one from 2011 when I was testing the 1Ds MkII for the first time...

When you asked that, I thought I might have been mistaken (my memory does let me down enough that I'm used to it) so I dug out the kit and for once I'd remembered correctly! www.copperhillimages.com (external link) is where I got this kit, some years ago.
