Loving my 1DSM2 that I acquired after selling my 5Dm2. I just like the IQ better and the shutter is quieter. I just need to learn to blow off the sensor , now. My recent trip to AZ was a blast and I really put the 1Ds to work.

Quieter? In my experience the 1ds2's shutter/mirror combo is the most unique and non-stealth sounding shutter i've ever heard...

Theres an option in the settings to make it quieter and alot more... film like in my experience.

Of, course if quiet is what you really want a 5d2 LV shutter is even quieter as theres no mirror movement whatsoever.

I've tried the quieter setting but to be honest couldn't tell much difference! It is an awesome shutter sound, but when I'm shooting a wedding it does feel like you're chambering a round in a pump action at times!

Hahaha, yeah.

I personally love the sound and find that people react to it and have more confidence in you but I'm not sure how i would feel in a echoy wedding.

This talk of how the shutter sounds reminds me of my friend's trailer for a rock climbing video he made last year (taken with a 5DII). The last sequence where the music cuts and you hear someone snapping away is me and my trusty 1Ds II. Sounds better than the music.

Yesterday a coworker told me her daughter's senior portraits are due Friday and they hadn't done any yet. So… brought my camera today to shoot a few after work.

I have an interesting error with my 1Ds right now. The white balance for all of my RAW files is always the same K value (way too warm) and the tint is always at +39! Even on two other photographer's computers that I work with...imported RAWs always have this same incorrect WB setting no matter what settings I use in camera. Even reinstalled the firmware and reset everything to factory settings. Nothing worked. It's nothing lightroom can't handle with a preset...but it's annoying and I'm worried its a symtom of a much worse underlying problem. Sending it off to CPS this winter for an over-haul...just curious if anyone else has had this happen.

I have an update about this. It's embarrassing too. Did you know that you can hard set the purple/green and yellow/blue tint and WB? I've been running my camera with the funny WB output for a while now, but since I shoot RAW only, it hasn't been an issue. I simply adjust it in lightroom.

I have a gig this weekend for a Santa shoot that requires jpeg output and for everything to be correct in camera (no computer editing before printing). So I think, cool...I will just use my 5D. Nope, they want to run SD cards back and forth between the camera and a printer located near the exit. So that meant I had to get my 1Ds white balance issue figured out. So, I read the manual.

Problem solved. Page 52 under White Balance Correction. Hold down the WB and the WB+/- button. You can then adjust the Blue/Amber and the Magenta/Green compensation. Mine was set maximum magenta and blue. Both are now neutral. AWB works now and I made sure custom WB works as I want it to now. All is right with the world.

I need someone to take me under their wing and teach me how to take astro photography. The stars are visible en masse tonight and this is all I got!

got to play with a 85 1.2 yesterday, :-O

Just realised i was using it at f4 because I had my 17-40 on previously...DOH

Please tell me I'm not the only one that forgets to open up the aperture after using a lens with a smaller aperture...
