I'm going to be upgrading to a 5d iii. I am keeping my 24-105L and selling my Sigma 10-20 since it won't fit. What would you recommend to replace the 10-20 for a wide angle?

Thanks!
_Matt

Sure, at twice the cost and an oddball 82mm filter size.

Unfortunately that oddball filter size is becoming more and more regular, so if you're planning on getting the 24-70LII or the Tamron 24-70, it's only the price.
Still, a 17-50 is what I voted for, and they have the advantage of being regularly available on the used market.

No plans on ever getting the 24-70 II. I like being able to share filters on my 17-40, 24-105, and 100-400. I hardly ever shoot the 17-40 wide open so max aperture isn't really an issue for me.

To be honest, there isn't any zoomlens sharp, the best would be 16-35 II but still it isn't great.
So UWA prime is the way to go.

The Canon 15 2.8 Fisheye with barrel distortion corrected sweeps the floor with the expensive 14 2.8L.
And if necessary you can use the base fisheye effect, double purpose.

I sold the 16-35 I, II and 17-40 f4 for this gem.

14mm f/2.8L would be my preference for a dedicated UWA...

17mm T/S would be Plan B

17-40 is a great lens. Sharp and great bang for your buck as well.

If price is a factor, then the 17-40. Similar IQ to the 24-105 (a bit better in the overlap) and highly flare resistant. Plus will take the same 77mm filters. Plus weathersealed.

If 17mm isn't wide enough for everything, get it and save for the Samyang 14mm, again since price is an issue.
