Just got back from Hunt's an I was able get a GT1542T for $611 - $150 = $461 not counting State of ME sales tax. Can't fault Hunt's for that. Also it looks like I can still qualify for the $40 Gitzo rebate but I'll see. You do have to trade any tripod to get the $150 off. I traded in an old cheap aluminum Slik. If you trade a tripod and a head it's $200 off! State of ME laws claim you have to pay the sales tax for Internet purchases;)

While I am not in the market for that product, thanks for letting me know Hunt's exists. I live on the west side of New Hampshire, and it seems they have a store in Manchester.

Awesome!

As a reference Buy.com has it for $489 at the moment (with free shipping). It is a great price for a store!

Look out for Hunt's, I went in there once to look at a 70-200 and they would not let me take a look at it. They gave me some B.S. about people looking at their store then buying from B+H. So I complained and they started taking photos of me.

thats funny - cannot imagine a store photographing someone due to a complaint. Also odd that if you cannot see an item how are you expected to buy it - might as well stick with online with such an approach.

FWIW - Never had my picture taken when shopping online at B&H - and never a hassle returning a lens if it was not as expected.

Matt, what branch was that? I've visited Portland, ME where I live and never had this issues. Also, have not experienced this in their flagship store in MA. And I am guilty of doing just that. I try to buy local when there is no price differences but for lenses I often buy used or from B&H.

That was in Hadley, MA. I don't think they get many visits from the big boss out there. It was two guys trying their best to alienate the customers. The thing is I spent a lot of money there during the film days, but I guess Beardo and his little blonde sidekick didn't remember me as a paying customer.

Here's how old I am...:o when I started doing business with Hunt, it was called Hunt Drug. A small pharmacy in Malden square. Brothers Jack and Joel were pharmacists by trade but had an interest in photography and half the store was devoted to camera equipment. They were always very generous on their trade in values. Bought/sold/traded lots of large format equipment with those guys before they moved to the new location and started expanding.

My answer for most photography questions: "it depends...'

I remember those days of Hunt Drug. I grew up in MA and would head over there 1 or 2 times a year. Used to do most of my photo equipment buying at Lechmere and Arlington Camera.
