Yes, fairly tough. But none of these tests are the same as 8 continuous hours of belly dance photography with a 7D. Doing this I felt the 7D becoming a lot warmer, and the shutter response was becoming spongy. This situation was also reflected in a toasty warm 64GB compact flash device. I was worried the camera would actually fail, as I had a 20D fail under similar circumstances.

Love my 7D, but for extended duration show photography, going to rely on my super tough 1D3.

Great to see this, last week I took a fall after shooting the sun set at Cable beach Western Australia.

I was leaving the beach with my 7D turned off with the 10-22 ef-s attached hanging by my left side (strap on the right side of my neck) & my tripod in my right hand when i slipped & fell hard on rocks. i tried to get the camera out of the way but just after I hit I heard the camera hit. i actually came down on the manfrotto, not pleasant!

With me on my back, the camera then slipped between the rocks for a little dunk in salt water. The only thing I could see at first was that the lens cap was missing, when I got off the beach & into some light i could see that there was some scratches on the bottom corners & some marks on the side of the pop up flash, the tripod mount helped I think (my watch band didn't fair so well).

The 10-22mm is destroyed, the front element is gone & the front was full off water & salt.

I got back to the hotel room & removed the battery & cf card, dried the body off & left all the holes open over night. The cf was fine & I got the photos of it straight away.

next morning I had a good look at the body & was happy to put a battery in & give it a go, all seems fine.

I've taken a couple of hundred shots over the last couple of days without any issues.

Thanks canon for building such a strong body & i'm glad a spent the money on it!

Phil

Lol, and next you'll see a story about a guy that dropped one 5 feet onto carpet and it shattered the case.
