So after posting my first set of shots and realizing I need to consider the background as much as my subject I jerry-rigged a little studio space in my basement. LOL

I picked up three bundles of material for backdrops and rigged up some lighting. Here I used a floor level 50w halogen to light the backdrop and another at 7' height about 8' back and then the built-in flash for fill. I now realize after many attempts that lighting is VERY difficult to get right. I have a lighting kit on order with Santa so I'll have to struggle with this setup for a few more weeks.

So here is a photo of my godchild Ash and while she was pretty patient decided to let me know she was getting fed up by hissing at me during one of my adjustments. She doesn't like the picture, but for some reason I thought it was fun and natural. Let me know what you think.

50mm 1.8
1/125 f2.8 ISO 800

Cheers,
Rick

Nope. I just got lucky on this shot. Unfortunately I only have free PP software for now. I'm mostly using MS Picture It! which only allows a few basic things. Here I've only cropped, changed to b&w and adjusted the contrast/brightness.

I have the color version at home and I'll post it tonight.
