I've been wondering the same thing. They mystery have made a tiny quantity of them. I haven't ever seen them in stock at Adorama, Amazon or B&H.

I got impatient so I just bought another 600EX from Adorama. They have the lowest price at $567.49 right now. All stores have their ups and downs bit lately, Adorama has been fantastic with price and service.
(Helen...thanks for your help with the batteries).

How did you get one for that price? I just ordered my 6th one from Adorama yesterday and paid $599. ( I guess they like you better than me.

I had a similar concern, until I saw an ST-E3-RT. It is so much smaller, it has only two batteries so it weighs much less. That convinced me to get the ST unit over a flash. I am very happy that I bought it.

I bought 3 from www.buydig.com (external link) for $575 each. You can get it for $585 now with a coupon code. Although they came with 4 batteries and a charger, I wouldn't recommend buying from them because the batteries are a far cry from the advertised 3000mAh and because all three flashes came packaged very poorly with bashed up boxes.

I bought one more for $567.49 from B&H as they price matched Amazon, but it was a major PIA to get them to price match.

Adorama has $599 posted, but when you add it to cart, it says $567.49. You should check your invoice as you likely were charged the lower price. It arrived packaged well and the price was the lowest.

I checked your gear list and noticed that you don't own an ST-E3. May I ask why? Also, your gear list is very extensive so I'm just curious if you're a professional. I'm hoping you say, "No" so I can show my wife your list. :D

Previous posts convinved me to buy an ST-E3, but I wasn't able to find one anywhere except for a local store who is charging way more than the big online merchants. I'll most likely get one when I can, but in the meantime, I'm using a 600EX.

Adorama offers the 600EX-RT with and without some cheesey accessories for the same price of $599. What I did was bought the one with the accessories and never looked at the other one which offered the lower price when adding it to the cart.(((( Oh well I have some cheesey accessories. I do have an ST-E3-RT but it is listed under triggers and not with the Speedlites. "NO" to your second question. Just serious GAS and several other behavioral disorders accounts for that list.

ST-E3-RT's are showing as in-stock in most Swiss shops just now so I hope that means general availability is finally here. Usually I have to wait longer than most to get anything newly released so it's a bit surprising.

Mine arrived 3 days ago. It's a huge weight-difference walking around with the 600EX-RT on the camera vs the ST-E3 (focus assist aside).

I just bought the ST-E3 Transmitter and the 600 EX-RT at my local camera store.
Seems to do the job as designed.

I like the ST-E3 because it's less bulk on the camera.

I got tired of waiting and bought a 4th 600 from Adorama today. When the ST-e3 finally is in stock, and shame on Canon for this supply problem, I will get one. For now, the additional flash will give me what I need and serve as a backup later. Always good to have a backup when charging for work. :)

I have been debating this as well. I have 2 600EX-RT units and plan to either add a third or the ST-E3. I am leaning towards the extra flash so I will have a backup.

I would just go ahead and buy the third flash. I am not a pro but am so sold on the ease of RF that I got a 4th and then 5th flash. I will likely get the STE3 when it is in stock.

You won't regret having the extra flash.

I like how you think. If you can afford it, go for the flash now and get the controller later.

Looks like the 600EX-RT is going for $567, so I ordered another at that price, which will give me 3 of them.

Yes. The lower price lured me in too.
