Premiere (5Dmk2 files) zoom help

i have imported some files straight from my 5Dmk2 in to adobe premiere

when i look at the files on the left preview window , they look fine

but when i drop them on the timeline and look on the right output window they seem zoomed in


can anyone help with why ?

I believe because the one on the left is a "Source" window which is used mainly to preview unedited clips before adding to your time line so it automatically fits the video to the viewing box.

Whereas the right is a "Program" viewing box which is used to view the video off of your timeline and therefor how it will view once exported say to a DVD or viewed on youtube.

I think the reason for this is because your paramaters for you timeline settings arent matching up with your native clip size. For instance if the timeline paramaters are set to 720p and your video clip is 1080p you going to encounter some clipping on the viewing area of your media. You should be given the option to set your parameters when you make a new project in premiere. Make sure they are set correctly to match your video.

thank you for taking the time to answer.

i found a setting on the right click menu called "scale to frame size" and that has solved it
