Alright, lets get down to it.

Some words:

Kevan: Curvy, creepy and they blend in all-to-well with their surroundings. Makes easy for the un-suspecting photographer to stumble along and become lunch. Lovely colors and good exposure, I just wish those snakes stood out more from their surroundings.

WaFp:
How about some EDGE with those curves? Love the lighting and how it works with the stone work. Nice conversion and exposure. What bothers me is the light source itself. When I crop that out, I like your image more.

Scatterbrained:
Creative and well thought out. Took this "sun dried head" of mine a few minutes to figure out what I was looking at. Well done with the framing/crop and exposure.

CameraMan:
Little red curvy pick-up. Oddly, the specular highlights appeal to me, I like 'em. Nice HDR and well done in keeping yourself out of reflections. The deadness of the darkened vacant space to the right detracts from the image.

teekay:
Nice catch, with curves galore. How you spent some time getting more captures of this, I would of had a field day...and a soggy camera. Well done with framing and exposure.

Gail:
That thing is just one growing, or shrinking, spiral. Gotta love nature. Well done with the lighting and framing, but I wish it were a little more 'bold' if that makes any sense.

Mo:
Taking pictures of sleeping baby birds. do you have no shame?...;) You sure did quite close, the Brick has good MFD. Well done exposure and framing.

Ace and Deuce:
That's a curvy apparatus I've not seen before at a playground. Well done with the exposure in the bright sun and nice catch. I think a little post processing (clone out the power lines) and a crop (some of the left and bottom to eliminate the car, and from the black portion of the gym to the end at the right) would really set this image off!

Patrick:
Nice capture and waves. Wish the image was larger, 640 does not due it justice. Otherwise, seems just a little flat.

paintmblak:
Nice, soft exposure with the soft curves of the rose. Nice exposure and framing.

ImaginingOrange:
I love everything about this image, it's fantastic. But alas, posting criteria (See #5 in initial post) was not met.

Mike (pappa):
Nice catch with water in motion, colors and shapes. Cheers with the exposure as well.

Jean-Guy:
There's a big curve. Jeez, can they cram any more buildings in there? nice capture and angle, just seems a little flat.

Matrim33:
Nice colors and framing, just a hair of camera shake (1/30th sec, 184mm, crop body). Nice try.

Thank you all for the great turnout, and entering such wonderful submissions!

Honorable Mention: Kevan

Runner Up: pappawheely--Mike

Winner and new Champion: Scatterbrained

Congrats to scatterbrained and welcome to the DSLR Challenge!!! WTG, Kevan!
Jason, I have been on a 12 day road trip and when we stopped in Denver to visit my niece, her 5 yr. old son excitedly showed me the Robin nest mama bird built in his play fort. When I climbed in (it was made for 2-5 year olds), the fort space was so tiny I didn't even have room to hold my camera out in front of me so I had to hold it over my head to shoot. So I popped off about 6 quick shots and loved the little beaks curved out onto the edge of the nest. This was cropped.

Geesh! So many good entries and terrific interpretations on "curves".

Wonderful win there Scatter, terrific imagination.

Thanks Jason for the nod and comments. Next time I'm down by that pond I'll mention to the snakes that they try doing something with their rather drab wardrobe. Then I'll run like hell.

I was lucky this snake scene happened just days before the challenge was called.

Nice going all!

Congratulations Scatterbrained, and to your runners up Kevan & Mike. Really good subject with nearly every entry right up there as a possible winner IMHO.

Yeah, I took innumerable shots of that sprinkler, did get my pants wet but kept the camera dry. Never did get what I really wanted and in retrospect I should have tried flash as well. It was an interesting exercise. Here's one of many rejects, taken in the setting sun.

PM sent to scatterbrained but he has not been on in a week+.
If I don't hear back from him by tonight, would teekay be willing to jump in & host the next challenge? :)

I sent Scatter a PM as well, no reply.

Since pappawheely came in second, he is next in line to host the next challenge. He's not logged in in three days, but I'll pm him as well.

If pappawheely is a no-go, then Kevan is next in line to host the Challenge. If that falls through, then it's up to volunteers.
