When shooting in the sun I would like an umbrella over me or even if it was raining. Is there anything that is made that would do this? Am I stuck using a C stand and grip ?

You could get one of those umbrellas with a clamp meant for those folding captain's chairs. The biggest problem being that any gust of wind would move the tripod and ruin your shot. You're better off keeping them separate.

Oh yea, I would def recommend keeping an umbrella OFF the tripod! Youd want it on a separate stand for sure. And even on a separate stand it could potentially fall over and knock your camera tripod down with it.

I think the previous advice (from KLR.B & BEN_R) are good ones, but there is always this…

Umbrella hat: (Hmmm… it is kind of like wearing an upside down bowl on your head, you know what that is like right?)

[A concept from the 1960’s,(patented in 1880), which you could also use as a marketing twist to differentiate yourself as… the “umbrella photographer". Yes you may get some smiles & snires, but I am sure people would remember you! Depends on your target market, e.g. kids photography etc. - Photography seems to be 20% skill and 80% marketing; particualrly in its current digitally crowded low barriers to enter industry].

Camera umbrella:

Other sources would possibly be survey/engineering suppliers, rather than “reinventing the wheel”.
Good luck.

I would just get a good hat with a wide brim for the sun. If it's raining, wear a good poncho or rain coat. The camera should be in a good rain cover anyway (ThinkTank, Kata, etc.).

Do they make rain coats in your size? I've seen pics of you leveling cities... ;)
