When shooting in the sun I would like an umbrella over me or even if it was raining. Is there anything that is made that would do this? Am I stuck using a C stand and grip ?

The biggest problem being that any gust of wind would move the tripod and ruin your shot. You're better off keeping them separate. gordon

Youd want it on a separate stand for sure. And even on a separate stand it could potentially fall over and knock your camera tripod down with it. [Gear List | Flickr
