Time to get the Sigma 50 and be blown away by the beautiful bokeh! It's one lens that is in my kit to stay. :)

Always consider the 1.4 since I got the 1.8 for its better build qualities and its 1.4.

Glad I didn't based on the comments here.

Now the Sigma would be something else....

the 50 1.8 is a great value in the canon lens lineup. mine was great until it (literally) fell apart.

oh really!! mine hasn't falling apart yet... how does a lens just fall apart?

I was underwhelmed by the 50 1.4 coming from the 1.8, got the 50L (and eventually, a new 1.8) instead.
Both the 1.8's has been stunningly good, for the price. The 50L is spectacular.

yep the 50L IS the king of the fifties...going for the sigma 50mm is like playing with fire most likely you well get burned!!

My 50 f/1.8 (mk1 so it won't break in two on me) is flanked by my 35L and my 70-200L in my lens collection. I don't feel I need anything better at that focal length; that's how good that little lens is.
