It looks like it could do with some processing i.e. darkening the sky, increasing the sharpening, removing dust spots and just an overall contrast boost. Also, maybe a panoramic crop could add some more interest?

A nice photo nonetheless.

Agreed on the processing. However, I think the composition is the biggest issue with this shot. Your horizon is smack dab in the middle, which is not usually where you want it.

I think I know what you were trying to do with the rocks in the foreground, but honestly, I want to see more of the lighthouse and less of the rocks, because the rocks just aren't very interesting. Maybe if they were wet, but they're pretty boring.
It also looks like you were struggling with the light in this shot, and it might be better to either shoot this later in the day or maybe bracket and blend the shots to keep the sky from blowing out.

Good advice from Todd. But I think you need to work the brightness and saturation of the entire scene and work the contrast of the sky separately. If you crop out the big rocks I think you will have a much better scene. Here is the direction I would go with it in processing:
And note that you have some serious sensor dust issues (to the right of the lighthouse and all the way to the right margin).

Nubble is one of the best lighthouses in Maine to photograph. I have gone there several times and I'm sure I'll be back again this year. I tend to agree with Todd about the foreground. When I shoot Nubble I leave very little of the rocks in the shot. So I don't steal your thread here's a link to a shot I did last June.

Hope that worked. Anyway you can see I like my colors.

Qbx your rework was an improvement but you took the rock colors too red. They almost look like sandstone from the southwest. If you've been to the Maine coast then you know that the rocks are more granite based and lean towards grey.

Edit: Except for Bass Head Harbor Light

Thank you for your comment. I know the weather here in Ct has been overcast and rainy but it is sopposed to break today. I'll be taking the ferry to Long Island to try and grab a few lighthouse shots on Thursday. Good luck and good light for your return to Nubble.
