Perhaps I need to tone down the background saturation? Something just seems off but Im so hyper critical, I need ya'lls opinion.

The girl is cute. For me maybe tone down the background a bit so as not to detract from the little girl. The photo is adorable.

Thanks for the quick replies guys. Perhaps a bit too much desat on your edit. Its almost to selective color. Thanks though, I knew I had went a bit too far. Sometimes tired eyes and long hours staring at the screen gets to your judgement. :D

I think the original is very good. Believe me, the parents eyes are going straight to their daughter. The background doesn't detract in the least.

Original loofs good except for the small patch on the right. Guess not much controlling that though. Love the blue eyes.

Keep some of the blue in the background just lighten a bit so the background is a little softer.

This is what I did. I masked her out and then boosted the background and floor a bit and then made a mask with a gradient so the foreground is still bright and the background mathes it in tone but is slightly darker to keep her popping off of it. Ill post it tonight if anyone is interested.

Shane, I had a bit of fun with your image, I hope you don't mind. I went with your initial post; I thought the second bg was a bit too drab, considering the subject. Playing with the opacity, I added some G-blur and vignette and cloned out some bg seams. The aim was to soften the bg and redirect the focus. Very slap-dash, but here's the idea:

Edit: upon review, I think I was too heavy-handed on the blur, causing some ghosting, but the idea is there.

I dont mind at all Kevan. Your edit is neat. Not my style but a nice edit for sure. I like how it makes the dress seem to glow.

LoL Im not so convinved. The more I look at it, the most I think her skin tone looks better with the darker bg in the original... Ill let the parents decide. bw!
As an aside, I HATE this background. Mom had her other daughters pictures taken on a similar setup and requested it specifically.
