Is it permissible to start a topic w/o posting a picture in a particular forum ? The reason I am asking is I feel in certain instances you would receive a better answer then if you asked the same query in lets say "Talk about photography". If I have a bird specific question I am bound to get a better response in the Nature and Animals section due to the fact that is where the birders are. Those same people might not frequent other areas and hence I wont be getting the best advice to improve my shots. I can also see it causing problems by muddying the respective individual sections though. Just figured I would throw this it out here for discussion.

Nature & Animals is - in my opinion - one of the worst to do this in because it's so busy already. Then again, I know how you feel and agree with you, and it probably wouldn't happen all that often. I say give it a shot. If people start complaining I'll take the blame, but we'll have to stop the practice after that.

You could always post a gratuitous photo along with your question. This way the photo-seekers don't feel ripped off. :-)

Or post the question in the relevant forum and post the link with the photo :D

Tommy,

If it were me, I would "share" a photo that is related to or demonstrates your question. Topic would be "Bird by My House, and a Question..."

That is the tack I would take.

If the question primarily concerns a bird and secondarily concerns photography in general then N&A is certainly the most relevant forum.

This is an interesting question because there is no perfect solution. I believe, however, that posing the question in the appropriate 'share' forum is going to get the best results. It really is going to be seen by the people most interested in the subject and those having the most experience in the field.

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

Thanks Scottes for permission to do so and the others for their suggestions. I hope and dont think this will take off like wildfire. I know if the occasion arises that I feel the need to ask a particular ? I will use prudence in not abusing this and hope that others do the same.
