Gear and settings:-
Canon 7D, Full Manual on camera
f16, 1/250, ISO100, Handheld
Canon MP-E 65mm lens
MT-24EX flash, set to full auto E-TTL II flash metering, 1 stop over exposure (I vary the balance (output) between left and right flash heads)
STO-FEN OM-24X Flash Diffusers (pair) / Additional Gary Fong type diffusers (pair)
and also a pair of Lambency DOME Flash Diffusers all cobbled together to soften the light
Magnification : 4 or 5x Life-size for the last shot

Excellent series. I tried Maple Syrup once and it made no impression on my bee population at all. I will have another try though just to make sure they weren't just having me on.

he was covered in maple syrup by the time he'd finished to the extent he could hardly fly
