My newly purchased Zeiss 18mm lens arrived 2 days ago, I've wanted to try a wide angle lens on my 5DII for some time and decided to go for the Zeiss. Yesterday afternoon it clouded over so I rushed down to the Gladstone Botanic gardens after work to try and see if I could find some good angles and compositions in the rainforest section. I treated it as a bit of a scouting trip, I didn't take my time and use the tripod, I used high ISO and a shallow DOF and just went hunting for compositions. I've read that the hardest part of wide angle landscapes is getting the compositions right, so if I've done that OK I will go back and redo some images with a tripod, low ISO and long exposures. What do you think? Should I try something different before I try and redo any of these? New to wide angle stuff but I am a fan of wide angle landscape photography that is done in portrait orientation, trying to keep my feet out of the picture (just) but keeping the horizon in. I got the feeling I could be even lower to the ground in all of these, that will be a problem as my tripod won't go as low as I've done these. I'd appreciate any tips on composition in regard to these pictures.

Had a quick go at a sunset after leaving the gardens, trying to get a feel for the angle. I did bust out the tripod for this one. The Lee Filter system will be the next addition to the camera gear, would have loved to have used a graduated filter on this ...
