Hey!

I'm looking to clear things up as I'm still unclear how CPS in Canada runs so much help would be appreciated!

I'm interested in joining CPS (gold membership) because of the benefits that come with it, top one being the rental service. How exactly does it work though? Would you simply call up CPS and inform that one equipment you'd like to rent? what type of fee's are you looking at and how long are you allowed to rent equipment? I'm looking to use lenses above the 200mm range for events that would require such focal length. Thank you for the support!

if it helps, the service centre where they send out equipment is in Mississauga which is driving distance for me.

It seems like the Gold membership in Canada allows you to rent select pieces of gear. I'd call them or email them for more info, but if it works like the United States CPS you email them stating what gear you want (2 lenses and one body per order) and you must give them at least two weeks' notice. They allow you to rent them for a maximum of two weeks if I recall correctly, and you are responsible for the cost of shipping the gear back.

I'm not sure if they will let you drop off the rentals at the service center. Probably would be best to ask about that as well.

I don't think you should call it a rental service... more "evaluation loaner". They stipulate that there's only 2 times that you can check something out...

you can test drive, and you can rent...

Some rentals are only available to Platinum members (i.e. 600/4 800/5.6 TS17, etc..)
Most 'normal range' lenses (primes 14 to 135 and zooms 16-35 to 100-400) are in the $105 to $120 for 5 days!
The white primes are in the $225 to $450 for 5 days
I see no rental rates for bodies or flashes

Test drive program is AWESOME
I've signed out a 200/2 and the 800/5.6 on separate weekends - Canon paid shipping both ways, and I had no costs whatsoever (other than the startup fee) to use them!
I think you can test drive 2 times PER lens:
"Test drives or tryouts are available to Platinum members only on a first come-first served basis. Members are limited to two tryouts per product. Test drives are available for 3 day periods."
