As my first photo post, here's sharing an Indigo-banded Kingfisher (an uncommon Philippine endemic), 350D + Sigmonster (Sigma 300-800 DG), 800 mm, f/9, ISO 200, 0.6 sec (using MLU), manual exposure

I've never managed to get a kingfisher to sit still for a tenth of your shutter time.

What an amazing shot of an amazing creature...too much. At 0.6 seconds you must have shot him between heartbeats as he is rock solid.... crisp. ...the colors are unreal ..Excellent work

Thanks, Nick, and the shutter speed is right - 0.6 sec. This bird inhabits dark mountain streams. I finally got close to him recently (after 2 years of trying), and I didn't use flash to preserve its colors.

Here's another one at a slightly faster SS, showing the bird's breast and why it's called indigo-banded. It perched and kept still on the roof of a picnic hut beside the stream, under very dark ambient lighting.

Another fantastic capture.

I just looked at your website and will have to return soon . I hardly recognized a single bird and the photographs are stunning. National Geographic should be knocking on your door (perhaps they already have).....welcome to the forum BTW
