Ttarmandua (Anteater)

The Tarmandua is an anteater with strong front claws for tearing open ant and termite nests. It also has a prehensile tail which you can clearly see in this photo.

I photographed this on in Tortuguero National Park. It was crawling out onto this branch when its weight bent the branch down steeply. It then turned around and headed back.

Unfortunately it was photogrpahed in deep shadows at a high ISO resulting in a grainy image. :(

Even with the difficult lighting, this turned out great Stephen!
Really nice image showing off this fellow. An unusual pose, but we can really see the markings
and the tail!

Where are you Stephen? This certainly is not in the wilds of Canada! ;)
