Mhappy...

- Those pics are going to be too small to do any good on the actual card at actual size. I have experience on this one.

- The text may end up being too small, also. What font size is it?

- "Website coming soon!" is NOT good advertising, especially on something as permanent as a card. Either at least buy the domain name and put something up as a place holder (not ideal, either), or leave off website info completely until you do get one, then get new cards.

I read through about twenty pages of the thread. Lots of great ideas. I'm working on this version of my card. Is it too cutesy? It may be the case that some people may not even understand the format choice. I won't tell you what they are right off to see if you can figure it out. If most people can't: back to the drawing board.

It's done in Adobe Illustrator as a 2" x 3.5" card.

Thanks for any feedback

P. S. I'd probably add more info on the back such as the type of photography I do, email, etc.

Thanks Ken!! All your points are good points. I never thought about the permanency of card and my lack of having a web page right now. :(

The font size is between 11 - 20 pt. And I changed the size in photoshop to 2x3.
I did end up having to re-apply the images and all the writing at the bottom of the card when I ordered from vista print. Everything seemed to look well balanced on the vistaprint preview. Except none of the images looked anywhere near as sharp as the should be. I figured since I had to grab my images through vistaprint, the final result would look the way it should.

What size should my images and font be set at?

I wish I posted this before I ordered the cards. Well, the positive thing is, yes, while I already ordered them, no one says I have to hand those ones out.
I'll just have to start again.
Sucks that I wasted $70 though....

Thanks for the input!

If you ordered them today or maybe even yesterday there is a chance you can ask them to hold the order. I had to do that before with overnightprints.com.

Please C&C!

This is my very 1st try! I've been handing out brochures for years. This is my 1st business card!

Business card sizing ratio is 3.5 inches by 2 inches, not 3:2.

A lot of your text will be very small, too small for a business card. I just finished the process up slightly enlarging the text on my business card, and even then I had someone at the art show I was exhibiting at holding my card at arm's length trying to read what was on the card.

Remember that not everyone has perfect vision and can read small text. The ability to read small text easily generally fades as we age.

Thanks for the help everyone!! It's greatly appreciated! Now, when I re-order them I'll know!

msfvirginia, It's too late to have them hold the order. It said to make sure there are no changes needed cause once I hit 'order', it's out of my hands.

Well, I guess I'll have 2 weeks & 5 days to look at the crappy job I did!

Lol - Other than the font, some of the text and the poorly sized pictures... does the general idea of the card look ok??
I didn't think it looked too bad for my 1st time!!

Here's a rough, rough draft.

Looking for some advice as to where I should go from here. Anything in grey will be foil stamped, black is black.

I would like to add to these points by saying the "Find me on Facebook" needs to be changed, to just the "www.facebook.com/memberpage", giving them a direct address to your page on Facebook, not making them actually having to search and "find you"...

Thanks Chris!!! :)
But wouldn't giving my (http//blah blah blah) facebook page address be super long for someone to type out rather than just typing Mel Brown Photography and clicking it?? Or am I misunderstanding what you're saying??
Definitely when I get my website up, I'll link my facebook page to my website.

Wikipedia:

The name Shell is linked to the Shell Transport and Trading Company. In 1833, the founder's father, also Marcus Samuel, founded an import business to sell seashells to London collectors. When collecting seashell specimens in the Caspian Sea area in 1892, the younger Samuel realized there was potential in exporting lamp oil from the region and commissioned the world's first purpose-built oil tanker, the Murex (Latin for a type of snail shell), to enter this market; by 1907 the company had a fleet. Although for several decades the company had a refinery at Shell Haven on the Thames, there is no evidence of this having provided the name.

The Shell brand is one of the most familiar commercial symbols in the world. Known as the "pecten" after the sea shell Pecten maximus (the giant scallop), on which its design is based, the current version of the brand was designed by Raymond Loewy and introduced in 1971. The yellow and red colours used are thought to relate to the colours of the flag of Spain as Shell built early service stations in the state of California which had strong connections with Spain.

crazy!

for some reason, I read that as **** us photo.

Mhappy, next time, print it out on your home/office printer.

it will give you a good diea how readable the text and images are.
