Any feedback on mine at all?

Minimalism doesn't necessarily mean less content, and requires more than just typography to pull off.

Not that a card can't be done without pure typography, it just needs more interest in terms of hierarchy
and other typographic devices. Dead center seems to be a common choice amongst the cards here,
perhaps it would be beneficial to beak the norm.

No that's not what I meant, I know the use of social networking. But why put it on a business card? Clutters it up, if anyone puts it on their website their sure to go there before anything.

This I do agree with...

the picture of the cards is a cell phone picture my bf took. not meant to be a great picture.

our website is not set up yet. we are in the process of setting up another site for something totally different. so once that one is finished ours for TLS will be up..so facebook and email are our only way of communication now.

i didnt do the design of the card my bf did it. hes the graphic designer. i personally love the camera in there. you wouldnt know what it is without it...and im pretty sure canon isnt going to come knocking at our door for some local small time photographers using their picture. lol

you should of seen the work he did to that picture to make it look the way it does now...there were kiwis in there. so im pretty impressed with it. every one that i have shown and handed it out too so far loves it.

Agreed.

As far as the Canon logo on the camera goes, technically it is violating their trademark if you don't have permission. Will they do anything about it? Probably not (probably won't ever know). Can they do anything about it if they did find out? Probably.

I'd keep this in mind for the next order of cards and make it a blank generic camera.

So photoguy6405, will we get busted for our use of their logo in our avatar?

Shouldn't they be paying us to advertise their logo when ever were out shooting pictures? :D

Standard "I am not a lawyer" disclaimer, but I don't think so. I think the legal distinction would be that a business card for a business is promoting a commercial enterprise. This implies endorsement of a specific service or product by the company. Our avatars are non-commercial.

This begs the question... if somebody made business cards just for fun and to promote their personal 'for fun only' website, would it still be trademark infringement? I don't think so, but like I said, I am not a lawyer.

Doesn't mean Canon wouldn't sue over it. It is not unheard of for corporations to use lawsuits as bully tactics to intimidate and get people to do what they want even when they know they are not legally correct. Often works, too. Either the person is intimidated, and/or they simply cannot afford the time and expense of defending a lawsuit, so they just take the easy road and cave in.

I've always thought so. And hey, all those concert shirts I used to buy and wear when I was younger?... they should have paid me to advertise for them.

perhaps we should make shirts and give them to our target market, so they can wear them and advertise for free for us! :) high school seniors for some of us, flower shop/tux rental/wedding dress store employee's, etc. :)

Canon has the right to say how their logo will be used for business purposes, and to get paid for its use if they grant permission.

Here's something different... I was handed a "business card" by another photographer just this morning. It is a Powerpoint presentation on a mini-CD.

We were sitting next to each other at a non-photography function, and as we got up at the end she pulled it out of her purse and handed it to me. Then she had to explain what it was when she saw the perplexed look on my face. (I haven't viewed it, yet, so I don't know if it's any good or not.)

Can't see these working, TBH - too many people these days have netbooks (no drive) or slot-fer drives that these won't work in. Good if you can get pl to look at them, though.

Auto-run USB-keys are probably better for interactives, though.

cheers, juice (Canon shooter, Elinchrom lighter, but pretty much agnostic on brands.)

I'm all Mac, no PowerPoint, wouldn't work for me.

it seems every computer has an sd card slot now, and you can get low capacity 512mb or 1gb ones for pretty cheap here and there.

Kinda sad how 512mb is considered low capacity now, I remember being happy I got a 256mb xD card.

update > forgot to add that this could be an alternative to the mini cd card, but its not as personal I think. You cant really write anything on the top either.
