NeoSoul I like the new cards better than your old, I have the same concern as Jessica though, do a test print to check legibility.

Andre, nice job, do you have a place to print them in large quantities?

Great post, Eileen. All very true.

And Neo ... New cards > Old cards. Job well done.

Love your new cards. My only concern is the font size. It seems like it would come out too small and unreadable when printed. Have you done a test print?

Thanks. I'll have to try to print it and see.

Do you guys think I should have some sort of slogan or short message on the card? If so, any ideas?

Here's my new card, I made a new site and chose a new name as I'm going start marketing to a more affluent demographic. Let me know what you think before I have it printed.

I can see why the change in style, but I don't care for the colors. I do think you need to bump the font size.

I think they're tacky, but that's just me.

Thanks guys. I made the font a little bigger and placed the order on 100 lb. paper so I hope that they'll leave a good impression on people.

Glossy coated or matte? If it's matte, it'll be standard postcard type paper that really isn't very stiff. It's about the same weight as Avery heavyweight matte business cards you can buy to print yourself.

Not crazy about the color scheme. I agree with others that your smaller text will be too small when printed at business card size. Remember that not all your customers will be 30 years old with good eye sight. I would also balance out the card more. On the light blue one you have text at the upper right corner and bottom right corner but with a big gap in the middle.

It's ok to try a somewhat fancy font, but it has to be easily readable. Consider separating your email address and web address because they are so long and so similar they aren't attractive when together.

Neo, hope they come out great!

And I know it's too late, but count me in with the folks who voted against a slogan.

thanks, I didn't add any slogans. I thought about adding my FB fan page to the back, but decided against it. I'll add it when I do my less formal cards.

Too bad you didn't use the colors from your website...

I'm going to totally change the website (once I figure out how). I'll probably use the same color scheme.

From your new card are the colors from your site now? I personally like the earth tones.

I wasn't quite able to fully embrace professionalism when ordering my first set of business cards but, they proved very popular (the majority of my work is in [Fringe] Theatre) so I've stuck with them ...

I order from Moo so the front has one of 10 images which I tend to change each set because I've shot new stuff. The back is text so instead of scanning or photographing it, I'll just copy out what it says:

Owain Shaw P.I.
Where P stands for Photographer and I
stands for "If you wish to contact me
please use the following ..."

Telephonical:

Electronic Mail:

The Internet:

Yours, still awaiting a commission to solve mysteries,

Owain Shaw P.I.

You might want to be careful about using the designation PI, which is commonly understood to indicate you are a Private Investigator. Using that designation in some jurisdictions without proper licensing is against the law. I don't know about the UK, but I know they have strict laws on investigations. In Texas and several other states in the US, and in Canada, giving the impression you are a PI is a Felony (which can actually mean jail time). Similar to referring to yourself as an MD (Medical Doctor) without the credentials.

Toying with a new design. Trying something clean and fresh....CC please.

Printing would be on glossy white with rounded corners.
