They actually print out darker than you'd think, keep that in mind when selecting which photo(s) you want to use.

you'll probably find that your monitor brightness is too high.. ive never had trouble with my moo stuff..

Possibly. It's an LCD with Huey color calibration that's supposed to adjust to room light. My husband deals with it for me. :)

An event kind of snuck up on me and forced my hand, so I went with what I had done so far. Ordered from moo.com -- very impressed with the quality.

^Awesome, you should think about getting your business cards die cut into the shape of a dog tag (the pet kind not the military kind. haha). It would really pull everything together, esp the "If found, please call".

Alright, I need some cards and right now I can't afford to get someone to do some nice design, so I'm hoping I can get away with the 'simple is better' philospophy with these, until something a bit nicer comes along. I'm looking to print them matte on 16 thickness.

Think these will work ok for now? And should I go with the pure white writing or the greyer?

What programs do you all use to design them? Or do you have someone do it for you?

To design professional business card/logo you need to use Adobe Illustrator and make your logo vector (so it can be resizable for all media). If you do your design in Photoshop (most respected designer's don';t do it in Photoshop lol, then you need your image to be 300dpi at least). Also your business card/logo has to look good when it's sized down or xerox copied.

I suggest to invest into business card/logo design because it's the first thing people see when you give them something to remember you by. Personally, for me, when I see crappy business card or crappy logo I never do business with these people. All it screams to me "cheap" or unprofessional.

I agree with the need for a good logo and card, but if someone dismissed me based only on that I'd feel grateful. I'd feel like I dodged a bullet. I have no need for high-maintenance clients.

Here is a sample of the cards I am really really thinking about doing. Reason for the tie is, I wear all black with a white tie at every event i shoot. Just my opinion, less is better, it leaves something to the imagination

Front and back of my business cards. I will have the glossy print cards for just handing out in mass and have Letterpress cards for serious occasions..

Very nice one and original. It will also sand out among those packs of business cards.
When a person picks a pile of business cards at business/gathering event, he/she most likely call those people whose business cards stand out. It's not just me saying, there are polls and reports have been posted in graphic desing/Communication Arts magazine.
