Also, Dean, don't go glossy on both sides. Keep it matte.

Here's mine, looks pretty bad on the scan with all the artifacts but actually looks great in person.
What do you think?

It seems a bit odd that the last item on your list of specialties is the visual focus of your card.

I thought the same thing.

Haha well, I had it the other way around first (short to long) with the planes also facing the other way, but then I figured it was obvious I was doing aviation photography since, well, it's all over my card, so I thought maybe it was better that I put all the other ones first to highlight them better ... did I think wrong?

I was thinking, do some of you have more than one version of your cards? I could see having a set of landscape, a set of portrait, etc, and handing them out for the person or venue would best match the card.

If you want to target different groups, have separate websites for portraits than for outdoor landscapes as the two markets are very, very different for buyers. Be the photograher that specializes in shooting people instead of one who does many types, as far as a client is concerned. They'll have piece of mind knowing you concentrate in what service you get getting from them instead of a little bit of everything.

Thanks for the advice. With technology being so cheap these days that could actually be very easy to pull off. I might try it. I already own several domain names that are related to photography.

Hey! Long time lurker looking for some advice so here goes... I don't have picture of my old cards that I essentially have come to hate, and i'm looking for some advice before I print the new ones..... I was thinking about printing them on a pearlecent (sp?) paper. I liked the idea of cotton and plastic but both were way out of my budget. either the pearl or possibly a thicker stock with the camera embossed, maybe uv spotting.... I was so sure until I saw all of the options now I've turned into a total woman... :P

I also spoke with a web designer that said she didn't like my logo because it didn't clearly articulate my company.... I was like i'm a photographer... it's a camera? I call thyself Caffeine... so there's a coffee cup in it? Can I get more clear? soo opinions on that as well? :) thanks!

I agree 100% with your web designer. Get rid of the cheesy-looking camera. Better yet, if you're hiring a web designer, find a good graphic designer too. ;)

I know most people wouldn't know but my first thought was "Oh look a Rebel" and then I looked to see if the pop up flash was open :p
I kinda like it, except the cup in the lens part I thought that was confusing, and I would remove the Canon also from the camera

ugh lol :) alrighty.... *sigh* the logo goes..... the whole logo or just the coffee cup?
I'll post what I come up with later when I get done with work/class.

As far as hiring someone, the web designer is graduating school and needs a final project (my website) so I swapped her a shoot session next time i'm in Pittsburgh to comp her for her time... I did talk to a gentlemen who made all of the local bike shops logo's and what I got was a worse variation of what I have now :P Actually now that I think about it maybe I'll hit up a few college/ highschool kids and offer the same deal... it's kind of a crap shoot but I need a better portfolio anyway.... :P

Thanks!
