What happened?

Well, what has happened is that people no longer ask for business cards. . At least the people I meet don't ask for them.

When I meet someone who is interested in my work, instead of asking for a business card, they pull out their phone and ask me for my website address, or my Facebook account, or Instagram account, or phone number. . Then right then and there they spend a half minute typing letters or numbers into their phone, pull up one of my online pages, click "follow" or "friend" or enter me into their contacts, and then they have the info they waned. . Hence, business cards are pretty much a thing of the past, because no one seems to have any interest in them any more.

Why carry a card around when you can punch the info right into your phone?

.

Type it in??? That's a thing of the past :p My business card has a QR code on it they can scan and it takes them right to everything they need ;)

I still have cards but that is because I am now living/working in Asia where they are still quite important as part of business etiquette. Having said that they have a QR code on that will allow people to pull my details straight into their phone's contact app - so if they don't actually want to carry the card I can hold it out and they scan it.

I deliberately wanted them minimal. I do have office space but am almost never there so I didn't put the address (though it is on the website and the QR code). I picked a selection of sport, architecture and street photos for the back.

Yes, it is a thing of the past, because people have been doing that for some time. . But it is also a thing of the present, because that is what most people still do.

I interact with dozens of people every month, and I have not yet seen a business card with a QR code on it. . Heck, until this past August, I didn't even have a phone that was capable of reading a QR code.

That is great! . Does that one QR code take them to all of your social media accounts, your website, and also enter your phone number into their phone's list of contacts?

I would have no idea how to go about getting a QR code made especially for me, with all of the necessary info wrapped up into one code. . That's slick!

.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".
