Has anyone had succeess using Pocket Wizards and Hypersync mode with a Ranger RX or 600RX?

I've tried using a Flex TT5 on camera with an ST4 on the Ranger Pack and with a Multimax on the pack going into the sync port.

Programmed the on-camera TT5 to not use HSS and to use hyper sync above sync speed, tried using fast, medium, and short duration on the transmitter, used -1600, swapped out the transmitter for another one, etc.

Wondering what step I'm missing or doing wrong.

Do you have the FlexTT5 and the ST4 set to work on the same controlTL channel ?

Hypersync with the Multimax receiving would have to be done with manual hypersync setup and a standard channel.

A clean 1/500th is the fastest you can get with that setup.

You need a tt5 on the strobe PLUS a tt5 or tt1 on camera to do hypersync.

I use a tt1 on camera and PW plus II's for my strobes to get 1/500th clearn and up to 1/1250th usable.

Those are exactly the results I get with a 5DII.

However the OP is using a D3 which should have much better success at higher shutter speeds.

The crop sensors actually have the best chance at getting higher shutter speeds. Unless he's using the mini/flex or flex/flex combo, he won't get any better than above. I can get up to 1/8000th with my mini/flex combo.

All you should need is the mini/flex on camera and the st4 plugged into the ranger to access the control TL features. Unless it's a ranger quadra - st4 is regretibly uncompatible.
