I was looking for the same thing after hanging my existing Slick tripod onto my camera back pack. I think this Benro MePhoto is relatively new and fits the bill at $135 US.

It is a bit short for me 6'1" but less wieght will be better on my back than excessive weight.

That looks pretty cool. 13 inches folded would be nice as a travel tripod.

I love having a nice full size tripod but there are times I could use something smaller.

Take a look at Benro A1190T

Even smaller than the Travelangel!

Here is a pic.

I have got one and LOVE it. Ideal for travel

Is it pretty stable? With the head it gets to over 20 inch's correct? It does not fold over the head correct?

Without head it is 16 inch. With my head 804RC2 it reaches 21 inch.
You will get a middle piece with it which will extend it pretty much.

Everything extended with middle piece will get you to 75 inch I think.
It does not fold over the head indeed. And it is pretty stable in my opinion. Never used a more expensive tripod so...

But it is an ideal tripod if you want something small to travel with.

Thanks, I would not expect it to rival a Gitzo but for travel I would rather just have something that I can use even if its pretty low to the ground. I do like how the previous one goes to 13 inch's so I may opt for that but its a good option and with it so flat its seems easy to pack.

You do know light and compact tripods are useless? Heavy and awkward comes with being effective I'm afraid.

Except that you're much more likely to always have it with you...

And a high quality one is still sturdy enough to hold 5 pounds of gear perfectly steady (50D + 17-55 f/2.8 + 580EX)...

The model I used here is the now discontinued Benro Travel Angel TRAB069 (external link). It folds to 13" and weighs only 2.6 pounds. I also have larger tripods that I use, but this one really is convenient to have in the bag all the time when trying to see some sights, enjoy time with the family, etc.

Mark-B is that similar to the benro Mephoto? For the price I am going to pick one of these up.

Other than bright colors, I'm not sure what's different about the mephoto product line. I'm not in the market for one so haven't really researched them. That's a new product and my Travel Angel is 2 years old.

I have a Gitzo 1541T. It is about a light as you can go and still get some function out of it. Check out THIS review.
