I wish I had more of a telephoto lens handy for compression.... I kinda decided to do this late or i could have at least rented a 300mm or something... this map has the path at the intersection of hwy's 82 and 78. http://www.weather.com …lar-eclipse-view-20120516 from what I understand it should be reaching this point at almost sunset.. which would be at 844... am i wrong? looks like the condition tonight in dallas are similar to lubbock tomorrow.... so i will go out tonight at sunset to practice up http://cleardarksky.com/c/Dallaskey.html?1 Thanks for the help. Well i live in Midland and the weatherman just said it will start storming here in Midland up towards Lubbock from 7:30pm til 10:00pm . AIN'T THAT THE PITS IF I EVER SEEN ONE ??!!! According to the Clearsky Clock and our weather report the best clearing spot will be around Brownfield Tx and north to Levelland Tx so looks like me and the wife will be headed that way Sunday afternoon . 2-hrs to Brownfield and another 30mins+ to levelland but if it's clear and i can get pictures the so be it !! So if your planning to actually drive that far you might as well plan on going west of Lubbock another 30 miles or so at least to get into clearing skies . Good luck what ever you do . Thats a long drive from Dallas so you'll have to leave really early to be there in time for the show ! That's 349 miles ( 6-hours driving normal speed) to Lubbock and if you go to Levelland that's another 30 miles for 38 mins +/- . Good luck and becareful !!

So i figure to show up around there maybe about 7 or so and drive around to find the best spot Well good luck and i do hope for you that it is clear but it is directly south of Lubbock and Lubbock will be total clouds according to the clear sky clock but maybe the clouds will be moved south or east by the time you get there . Good luck ! If not Brownfield is just 30 miles west of Tahoka .

Definitely the best spot but a little too far for me to travel cause i have to come back the same night and it would be way after midnight before i got home . That is a little over 7 hrs from me . I was going to go up there today and stay tonight and sunday night and come home sunday but plans didn't work out plus i had to work some today .

I've seen quite a number of web sites but none that will give usable details for other than those at the full eclipse path. One map seems to show me being at the edge. But how good would that be is the info I want. 7D, 450D, 18-135/3.5-5.6, 18-55/3.5-5.6, 60/2.8 macro
