Hi Guys,
I have to photo a christening tomorrow for my girlfriends nephew. It's only as a favour but I obviously want to do the best I can. Its a small do and the family are happy green box snappers, and, as such aren't either paying me or, are highly critical recipients. I will be using my 7d with the 17-55 with my 430ii flash. People photographs aren't something I do so just wanted a few tips on settings.
I was going to use ETTL, camera on manual, 1/125 at 5.6, ISO 800. Will this carry me through the day ?? I have tried these settings around the house in differing lights and it seems to be providing sharp shots. Any other tips anyone could pass on please would be gratefully received :D
Thanks,
Ian

sounds like a good strategy, if you can bounce the light off walls or ceiling it may give you a softer more diffused light.

Ian,
I try to keep the ambient reading on the camera meter within a stop. Maybe a stop and a half. Then bounce the flash. 7D has good high ISO performance so I would be willing to go all the way up with ISO to keep the shutter speed reasonable. (1.5 times the focal length at minimum to protect against camera shake.)

ETTL for flash is good strategy as is manual for the camera.

Thanks both, sorry for late reply, I've been out all night. Charging my batteries now then off. Cheers.
