Another good trick is to make sure she has all the stuff she wants... My wife got a new fur coat last night. I ordered a new 5D3 today. Canon EOS M6 Mark II - EOS R5

Nathan Can you repeat the question, please? More info | Mar 07, 2013 16:16 | #113 I haven't bought much photography equipment this year. However, I've bought 4 pairs of shoes and 8 suits. I think I have as many shoes as my wife does (she can't buy many because she's a size 4 in heels and refuses to spend more than $100). She never made a comment about my purchasing... but I felt bad, so I was fine with her buying a new set of dining room chairs. Taking photos with a fancy camera does not make me a photographer.

My wife, then girlfriend decided it was better if she held on to them. There is no shame. She did give me the ok for the 70-200 IS II, but I think that was the final straw.....for now. I think I'm more bummed out cause of the price. I could get a 7D bay time, not for $900 though. Make money with your stuff. Xsi, 18-55

Nathan Can you repeat the question, please? More info | Mar 08, 2013 07:31 | #119 OhLook wrote in post #15689314 I make purchases with my money. My husband makes purchases with his money. We were old enough when we married that we each had separate money and were used to handling it. For joint purchases, such as things for the household, we decide case by case. In a partnership, you have to cooperate about budgetary matters as about everything else. Some people don't really learn how to spend and handle money, unfortunately. This year, my wife will be 29 and I will be 33. She will tell you that I'm better at managing money and saving than she is. In my opinion, however, she knows how to spend less better than I do. That is, I will make unnecessary expenditures, but I manage to save significant portions of my paycheck into our joint account. She spends more wisely than I do, but is able to put less aside because she makes less. Ever since we got married, we've kept separate and joint accounts. I worry about the big bills and she pays for the day-to-week expenses like household supplies and groceries. We never sit down and talk about who pays for what and I will still pay for some weeks' groceries and she fights somtimes will fight me for restaurant bills. There's certainly cooperation - but in the back of my mind I saw growing up how money got between my parents and started countless arguments... it's easier that I make a comfortable living - of course, that's not guaranteed to always be the case but we try - but I told myself long ago not to allow money control our marriage. I will give up many things before letting that happen - lots of families make do for much less. Taking photos with a fancy camera does not make me a photographer.
