If the gx1(edit:Canon G1X) had interchangeable lens alot of people would buy it especially canon users and they would not have to look elsewhere.

The GX1 does take interchangeable lenses -- they are called m4/3 lenses:

Me thinks 'tis a case of mistaken identity.

Canon G1X, Panasonic GX1

Two of the best lenses available for NEX almost never get a mention - Sigma 19 and 30 2.8.

Superb little lenses. Light, small, cheap, excellent IQ. My 30 rarely leaves my NEX 5.

Just bought the sony 50 f1.8. Talk about a sweet portrait lens.

Back to the sports question... I actually show a swim meet yesterday and found tome cool ways for the sony to add value. I mounted it on a ground plate under the starting block then used the wireless remote to trigger it in fast shooting mode on starts. I wish I had taken a shot of the setup, but my Sigma 120-300 that I use from swim events was acting up yet again and I was too busy getting mad at it. Next meet perhaps.

lens collections can grow. But I want to put Canon lens on a mirror-less system

I've tried to mount the 50L and 135L on the borrowed 5N. Looks and feels like a crap.

I'm really intrested with the NEX 7, cause i need small camera full of pixels (with nice dynamic range), and there's no option for 35mm equivalent. Here is great D3200, but lenses are big, and pretty pricey, and NEX7 with the Sigma 19 and 30mm, which are good and inexpencive, but still, no option for 35 lens. It's nice they have the M mount adapter, but the lenses like voigtlander 12mm, 35/1.2 or 50 f/1.1 are just to pricey to make it reasonable.

I have fuji X100 and just love it, but sometimes 12 megs are just not enough. I'm waiting for the Canon, cause for me it's just stupid, that camera that's just a little bigger than a box of cigarettes has more informations in highlights than the 5D mark II...

I bring up RAW images in Lightroom and Aperture from the Sony and compare them to my 7D and 5D (original Mk 1) and frankly the amount of detail coming out of the crap little kit lens the Sony ships just blows me away. Not sure what kind of voodoo magic they got going on, but shots I brought back from Spain a couple of weeks ago were just stunning.

But lenses are a HUGE problem. I have the 50 1.8 now on the NEX, and it just smokes the 50 1.4 canon. Truth in lending here... never have liked the 50 1.4 canon... so that isn't saying much. But my favorite walk around lens on the canon has been my 85 f1.8... and the Sony 50 is for all measures just as sharp. A NEX to 50 1.8 is a much more walk around townable kit than a 70D with either the Canon 50 or 85.

The best camera is the one you have with you. Still not shooting any serious sports with the Sony... but for travel and all that.... not bad. I am sure the Panasonic and the other 3/4 are good kits too.. with more lens choose. 24 mix is probably overkill... and 16-18 just enough.

I totally agree about the 50mm f/1.8 OSS lens! It's incredible quality and value for the money!!

For walkaround camera, I'm still happy with my NEX-7. With my 24 f/1.8 Zeiss lens, it is perfect combination for me travelling when my Canon DSLR stay in dry cabinet.
Small size, very good result.

I'm in the same boat. I had a 5DMII and the weight and high dollar carrying cost made it more of a burden to carry on trips. I sold all my gear after I stopped freelancing.

I'm about to pull the trigger on the Nex-7 today or tomorrow.

After a trip to Japan and then to Italy, my 5D2 w/24-105 zoom just got too big and heavy. Great camera...just too big for my 68 year old body. I gave the 5D to my son and bought a NEX-7...size and weight are perfect!

Compared to a Leica M-9 and a Leica 35/2.0 Summicron kit, the NEX-7 plus CZ 24/1.8 is not as good BUT it's over $6000 less expensive. Again, size and weight are perfect. IQ is very good to my non-perfectionist eyes.

But, I'll still keep a Canon DSLR: A T4i if Canon can ever use good rubber.

Too much stuff, not enough shooting time.

Canon T4i (2 lenses), Fuji X100s, Olympus OM-D EM-1 (3 lenses)
