Some really nice shots! Superb job on getting the 70-200, congrats :) Is it just me though, but does it look that on some of them the focus is on the windscreen not, front end. Was that on purpose mate?

It's never on purpose!!! Lmao

It all happens a bit quick for an old timer like me!!!! I think your right though windscreens are more focused than grills in some.

Some nice shooting, an improvement on your Bishopscourt set. I know how you feel about the 70-200, I felt the same when I got the original 70-200 f2.8 IS a few years ago - never looked back.

Looks like you use the centre focus point which looks to line up with the bonnet of the cars (hence the some front grill /some windscreen focusing). I'd use one of the lower focus points (they're all good on the 7D) and track the front grill or one of the upper focus points and track windscreen - it's only a suggestion but I find it also helps me frame the shot better as well - same for panning shots (I choose the focus point where I want the car number to be and track the cars through that way).
I must remember to take my own advice in the next two weeks, the Isle of Man is calling and I am answering the call as usual.

AWOL for a few years but back now.
1DX plus too many lenses
Now using a Sony RX10M4 and loving it.

Good luck at the IOM.

I have been lowering the focus point (when I remember)

Bikes are harder to get focused but when you do they tend to all be in focus.

The question is - will I be allowed to Kirkistown for Saturdays race meet?

I'm usually not fussed on car pics because its rare that anyone can bring some sense of movement or something that excites me to actually look at them. I have to say though that these are very good. Loads going on in almost every picture - excllent work. 4 is a gem. :)
