Sparrow Courtship

Technically, this is probably one of the weakest shots I have posted to POTN.. But I like the moment.

After getting this shot, and several other like it recently, I thought my camera was front focusing.
I checked it last night with the 70/200 and the 70/200+2x which is what I used for this shot. Both were spot-on.. I don't know why this shot appears to have focused about 4" or 5" in front of the male bird. I used a single AF point in AI Servo (the right side of the point included the male's eye, the left side the point included the front part of white and brown portions of the wing).

Out of curiosity, what was your aperture?

Thanks.. I thought so too. Who would have thought that sparrows could have such expressive faces.
