Assateague Island

Took a side trip to Assateague Island this weekend and took some shots of the wild horses.

Very nice! That is a neat place to visit. Bring plenty of bug spray in the summer though.

Nice photos! Were you able to find the horses easily? It looks like they were near a road. I want to try to visit them maybe later this summer.

I was going to say, here in Florida, the only wild horses we have are tourists... but it turns out, Paynes Prairie has wild horses. We live about 25 minutes from there. We've been there several times but I never asked the rangers where the horses normally graze.

Yes, the island is broken in 2 parts in Maryland. The State Park and The National Park, we went to the National Park side. The day we went there were about 5 hanging out in a parking lot eating the camper's leftovers.

There is also a few trails in the park you can walk. We took one that led us to the bay and there were about 10 of them walking along the beach. They have also been seen on the ocean side of the island however it was windy the day we went and didnt see any on that side of the island.

The Maryland side has about 90 -100 horses on the island.
