Grasshopper Sparrow (Platt Lane at Hornby Bend)

Went to Platt Lane again on May 19, 2012. Hoping to get a few more images of the Grasshopper Sparrow before they leave. These and the Clay-colored Sparrows have the strangest sparrow calls ever. Like the noise from a miniature grass trimmer.

All taken at 1/1000, f8. ISO1000, 800mm + 1.4x TC, uncropped but resized. Hope y'all like them.

Nice series Fee. It appears as if he was cooperative. I like him on the wire fence. I see birds on them often.

Nice series; I think sparrows are underrated.

Thanks Lilian. These guys like the wire to perch high. I guess once a grasshopper hops out, it won't escape their radar.

Totally agree Al! I think the sparrows' differences are much greater than their resemblance. I am always fascinated by them.
