Why would someone do this?
This early in the game why would they not just return it?

Would someone be wise to consider this a stolen or found camera?

Just avoid it to save yourself the headache. I'd rather spend a little more and get one from an authorized dealer with the 1-year warranty.

Since the price is not that far off a new one (as low as $3300), I would not call you wise for thinking that he/she has stolen this camera. You sound suspicious, not wise.

Wise would be first to ask him/her to see if they have the original box and all accessories, a copy of the receipt, etc. Since you didn't mentioned it, I take it that you have not asked. How would you feel if you were selling a legit camera at a price you want to move, and we think you have stolen the camera?

Someone here got a great deal on a 7D, 24-70L and a bunch of other gears last week, and the seller is someone new. The buyer could easily make $500 by just turn around and sell them all. All he did was doing some diligent foot work to check out the seller, which you could do as well since it is a CL deal for you.

I got mine for 3150 new but I did pay tax. Those states that don't have tax could get it for 3150 out of pocket easy. Could be legit...

It's gone now... but 3000 for a $3300 item that costs new isn't THAT amazing of a deal. Only saving 10%.
Maybe he/she can't return it because it's been more than 14 or 30 days, or however long the return period is.
To be honest I'd just buy a new one with warranty and peace of mind for that 10% extra.
