A very nice set here Stephen with the composition in the second and action/pose in the last image being my favourites.
Thanks Gary. I managed to see 1/8 of the 800+ species there.

You certainly made the most of your trip down south Stephen and I'm glad you are sharing it with us. I always love to see the raptors. Nicely done!
Mike thank you.

Stephen,
I've enjoyed all of your Costa Rica bird threads. The sharpness and vibrant colors are amazing. I also thank you for sharing with us.
Our son and his gf are headed to Costa Rica in early June. She's a photographer. I hope she comes back with a few excellent shots as well.
Thank you Kim

I'm really enjoying your shots from Costa Rica, thanks. I've never heard of the Roadside Hawk before. Great series.
Thanks Steve. Yes it was most likely a Roadside Hawk (actual common name)

Beautiful shots, Stephen. Sorry if you mentioned it elsewhere, but how much gear did you drag down there with you? And could you get it all as carry-on?
Thanks Ian. OK I dragged down almost everything as carry-on except my tripod and the lens hood for my 500mm F4. Here's the list: 7D and 40 D bodies (with battery grips), Canon 500mm F4, Sigma lens (70-200mm F2.8, 105mm F2.8 macro, 17-70mm F2.8-4,5, 1.4x & 2x teles), Sigma 610 DG Super Flash, Gateway Laptop and 500 Gig portable hard drive for double backup plus miscellaneous chargers and batteries. Photo Backpack was about 26 lbs and the computer bag was somewhat less. Whew it was all heavy though!
