G4?

I'm just curious if a G4 will come out by the end of this year? Any thoughts or news?

Probably not since the G5 is already here! I suppose Canon decided to skip the G4 name in favour of G5 because the new camera is a 5 megapix. I just bought the G3 two weeks ago, and on that occasion asked the dealer if a new model was expected soon. He said he did not know, but added that new models are in a way always expected (which is true). However, I don't regret my G3 purchase as I got i at a good price (600 Euros, which is well below the normal price her in Europe).

Besides, 5 megapix is not necessarily better than 4, so unless there are other important changes/improvements the G3 may be more value for money than the new model.
