Great Spotted Woodpecker

This was the target bird of the day. Great Spotted Woodpecker. We just wanted to see it but we did even better when we got this shot of it. I love the bird against the green background. This is another example of always having your camera with you.

Birdman congratulations on this find. I agree with you about the green background.

I'm not sure about having the bird perfectly centred. You don't indicate whether or not you accept image editing but I'm going to take a chance that you won't mind. If you have the space you might want to consider a different crop like the one that I've included here. It uses a bit of the "rule of thirds" plsu the perch creats a diagnonal in the frame.

Thanks Stephen for having the time to look at my picture. I'm fairly new to wildlife photography and have a lot to learn. I can see what you mean regarding the framing.
