Was quite happy to see and photograph this species...they seem to come through our area in isolated spots for a day or two during Spring migration. This is only the second time I have had an opportunity to photograph a Scarlet Tanager..

Wow, Gary, you make the most of your opportunities! Perfectly exposed too, by the looks of it, and I bet that was tough in such bright light. Well done, and what a beautiful bird that I have never seen but wish I could!

Sweet shot of a amazing bird. We had a huge fall out of Scarlet Tanagers this year. Wonder if he was basking in the sun at Ft DeSoto Park in Florida just about a month ago.

Good for you, Gary. The only time I photographed one was about four years ago with a 20D and a 75-300 and let us say the results were somewhat less than impressive. Your shot, however, is.

I see a Summer Tanager on a rare occasion. Never have gotten the opportunity to see a Scarlet. Thanks for the fantastic photos.

Excellent Gary. I got my very first shots of this species on Sunday morning. I may post some of my photos when I run out of my Costa Rica shots.

My goodness! That burning red is making a hole in my monitor Gary. What a striking color! Congrats on the sighting, and a successful image. :)
